Virtual Promenades
Client: Jane Kaplan
Jane Kaplan, a Professor of French in the Department
of Modern Languages & Literature, has often walked
the street of Paris over the years. During her meanderings,
Jane snapped pictures of interesting scenes: a man selecting
fresh fruit along a busy street or a transportation
sign in the Metro. Later, Jane printed these arresting
photos on overhead transparencies and incorporated them
into her classroom lectures.
Now, Jane shares these walks with hundreds of online
visitors every day. Jane has just launched her first-in-a-series
of “Virtual Promenades”. She narrates each
stop in both French and English. Not sure which version
to listen to? Simple -- just click on your “Language
Preference” button. Toggling back and forth between
French and English is a great way for Jane’s French
students to drill and practice their conversational
skills. There’s even an option to show and hide
trans-scripted subtitles.
