What is a Project Product?
The temporariness of a project means that projects have a beginning and an ending. Unlike operational work, projects are undertaken to create something. This ‘something’ is called the project product. Projects can create more than one product. The products they create can be tangible (e.g., a new building) or intangible (e.g., a change of state such as increasing efficiency in a process). Projects often result in the creation of something that will be used operationally. For example, a project may be undertaken to set up a new call center. Once the project is completed the center would be set up and manned. The on-going work that is done within the center would be operational work.
