Turnitin Available for Fall 2011

At the recommendation of Faculty Council, Turnitin, an online plagiarism detection service, will be available beginning in August 2011 to faculty who wish to have students' papers analyzed for originality against a database of web pages, articles, and student papers. Instructors can choose whether or not to permit students to access the originality report.

Turnitin will be integrated with the assignment tool in Sakai, our new learning management system, which goes into production use in the Fall. For those not using Sakai, online accounts will be available directly through Turnitin. In addition, Turnitin offers Grademark, an online paperless grading tool, and Peermark, an online peer review tool.  ITS will be administering accounts for Turnitin. More information will be available on how to start using Turnitin at IC later this summer.
