Optical scanning is a process used to scan and collect raw data from answer sheets or "bubble sheets". This data can be processed and analyzed through a variety of reports. ITS provides optical scanning for test scoring and for course evaluation. Answer sheets are available from your department.
ITS makes every effort to maintain the integrity of the optical scanning process and secure the data. Exam Reports and data files will be sent to the Instructor’s Sakai Drop Box and Course Evaluations will be sent to the appropriate department's administrative staff Sakai Drop Box.
Instructors are responsible for securing test sheets prior to their arrival at ITS. Instructors are encouraged to drop off and pick up the data sheets themselves at the ITS Helpdesk, 104 Job Hall. All transactions are logged.
All tests and evaluations must be dropped off and picked up at the ITS Helpdesk. In order for optical scanning requests to be processed a request form must be completed. The normal turn-around time for test scoring is 24 hours.
Final Exam Week Process
During final exam week, special processes and procedures are in place in order to expedite test scoring requests. The normal turn-around time for test scoring during exam week is 24 hours.
