Through our Microsoft campus agreement, Office 365 ProPlus is available to all current students as a FREE subscription license.

What does this subscription license include and how do I complete the installation?

What applications are included?

Office 2013 for Windows includes:

  • Word 2013
  • Excel 2013
  • PowerPoint 2013
  • OneNote 2013
  • Access 2013
  • Publisher 2013
  • Outlook 2013
  • Lync 2013
  • InfoPath 2013

Office 2011 for Macintosh Includes:

  • Word 2011
  • Excel 2011
  • PowerPoint 2011
  • Outlook 2011

Office for iPad includes (individual downloads in Apple App Store):

  • Excel
  • Powerpoint
  • Word

On how many computers or devices can I install Office?

You can install Office for Windows/Macintosh on up to five machines. 

What happens when I graduate or leave the college?

Your subscription license for Office 365 ProPlus expires when you graduate or leave the college.  Upon leaving IC, you no longer have access to the Office installers or web apps and any previously installed Office desktop applications and Office for iPad apps will have reduced functionality.  You will need to purchase a personal subscription license to continue using these applications after leaving Ithaca College.

Can I install Office on a smartphone or tablet?

Office Mobile is available for mobile devices as a free application (no subscription required).  

What is Lync? 

Lync is a communication tool that allows you to chat and voice/video conference with other Lync users.

What is OneNote?

OneNote is a free note taking application included in the Office 2013 installation.  Although not included in the Office 2011 installation for Macintosh computers, OneNote is available for Mac as well as a mobile version for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

What is OneDrive for Business?  

OneDrive for Business is an online file storage service (ex. Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, etc.) that is part of your Ithaca College Office 365 account.  You can access your "cloud" storage area by accessing the Outlook Web App directly, or via myhome.  OneDrive for Business is only available to current students.  If you graduate or leave the college, your access to your "cloud" will be removed.  It is important that you copy files from OneDrive for Business to a new location before graduating or leaving Ithaca College.

How is OneDrive for Business different from OneDrive?

OneDrive for Business is directly associated with your Ithaca College Office 365 account (username@ithaca.edu).  OneDrive is the free, consumer version of OneDrive for Business and is associated with a personal Microsoft or Outlook.com account.
