Wireless
Ithaca College has three wireless networks, accessible from various locations around campus: IC-Students, ICAirnet and ICAirnet-Secure.
Many academic and administrative buildings, as well as all residence halls, have wireless coverage.
ITS is working to provide wireless access in the remaining academic and administrative areas. Some areas require extensive cabling and equipment modifications to accommodate wireless access points. The recabling efforts will focus on the following areas for Fall 2009 (schedule is tentative and subject to change):
- CHS
- CNS
- Dillingham
- Facilities building
- Muller
- Phillips
- Public Safety building
- Whalen
It is expected that the campus will be fully wireless during the Spring 2010.
The wireless network has been designed to provide excellent coverage and performance for the campus community. However, wireless is a shared connection in the academic and administrative buildings and performance is directly related to the number of people using the wireless network at any given time.
Mobile devices should be able to connect to any of the wireless networks on campus. Devices will be able to connect to ICAirnet-Secure if the device supports WPA-2 encryption.
