ICAirnet-Secure

ICAirnet-Secure is the recommended wireless network for faculty and staff. A valid Netpass username and password are required for authentication to ICAirnet-Secure. This network is available in all academic and administrative areas and provides a secure, encrypted connection. Windows computers require one or more configuration files be installed the first time the connection is made.

Windows XP, Windows Vista (excluding 64-bit Vista), Mac OS 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 are the supported operating systems for using ICAirnet-Secure.

Faculty and staff will have access to network resources using ICAirnet-Secure, including printing and access to the Novell file servers (Memphis, Pulsar and Nova). The method of accessing the file servers depends on whether it is a college laptop or personal laptop. Personal Windows laptop users must access the file servers with an FTP program such as WS_ftp.

If you've never connected to ICAirnet-Secure before, the ICAirnet-Secure quick guide provides instructions for configuring and using IC's secure wireless network. Save the guide to your computer and follow the steps for your operating system when you are at a wireless location and ready to connect for the first time.

Connecting to Novell File Servers:

From a Mac laptop:

  • Boot up the computer as normal
  • Make sure you are connected to ICAirnet-Secure
  • Login to Novell normally by going to Go > Connect to Server

From a college-owned Windows XP laptop:

  • Login at the Novell screen as you normally would, but make sure "workstation only" is checked
  • Make sure that you are connected to ICAirnet-Secure
  • Right-click the red "N" in the System Tray and choose Novell Login
  • Login again with your normal Novell username and password
