Audio editing software is used to create podcasts, prepare materials for lecture and for the creation of multimedia materials. ITS offers limited support for the freeware application, Audacity. Audacity is a full featured, open-source audio editing and capture program. Audacity is an excellent solution for capturing, editing and exporting audio for the creation of podcasts. Audacity features multi-track recording and advanced audio filters.
To use Audacity, a microphone will be required. Audio files that are compatible with Audacity include .aiff, .wav, .mp3., .ogg, .au. The LAME MP3 encoder will be required to export audio files into the MP3 format.
