Quick Time player allows users to playback audio, graphic, and video formats, including H.264 and MPEG-4 formats. The Quick Time player is available as a free download.

Quick Time Pro

QuickTime Pro software allows users to create and edit content and convert audio and video files to and from numerous formats i.e. an .avi file needs to be converted to a .m4v file. QuickTime Pro is not part of the IC software bundle and must be purchased on own for around $40.00.

Mac users doing basic editing may not have to purchase QuickTime Pro. The decision depends of the type of files needed. QuickTime Pro provides additional options not found in the iLife suite of software.
