Math Placement Exam
All incoming students must complete the Math Placement exam before arriving on campus for orientation. This exam is conducted through Blackboard and proctored by the Math Department. The test scores are used to determine placement within Math courses. If the results of the exam do not properly reflect the student's mathematical preparation, students have the opportunity to retake the exam prior to the start of classes in the fall.
Students take this exam prior to signing up for courses, usually prior to coming to campus for the Orientation program. Students should allow 90 minutes for this exam. Once the exam is started it must be finished within the time allowed. Before starting this exam students can review sample questions.
To take the exam, students must first activate their IC Netpass account and then log into Blackboard. Click on the Math Placement Exam link. This exam is best taken with a high speed Internet connection; dial-up connections do not work well.
