Frequently Asked Questions

I've shared a calendar other than my personal calendar but Outlook 2011 for Mac users can't open it. How do I share with Mac users?

When you share a calendar other than your own personal calendar, Mac users may be unable to open it via the "Open Calendar" button.  Outlook 2011 can only open additional calendars that are sub-calendars of the personal calendar.

If you have not yet created the calendar in Outlook 2010, right-click your personal calendar (Calendar - username@ithaca.edu) and select "New Calendar."  Name your calendar and click OK. You must also ensure that your personal calendar permissions for "Default" has the "Folder visible" option selected.  This calendar can be opened by Outlook 2011 users that you have given permission.

If you have already created the calendar in Outlook 2010, right-click the calendar to be shared and select "Move Calendar."  Select "Calendar" from the list and click OK.  You must also ensure that your personal calendar permissions for "Default" has the "Folder visible" option selected.  This calendar can be opened by Outlook 2011 users that you have given permission.  Note that this may affect users who have already opened the shared calendar; they may need to remove and readd the shared calendar.
