Web Publishing

Faculty, staff and students have a variety of tools available to create and publish web pages on the ithaca.edu site. Where possible, the campus community will be required to utilize Web Profile Manager to maintain their site.

Adobe Dreamweaver

Static html pages are generally created by using html code or using a specialized software application like Adobe's Dreamweaver.

Web Profile Manager (WPM)

WPM is a web-based content management system (CMS) custom-tailored to the needs of Ithaca College. Users can be granted access to specific websites or web content and use the WPM to manage that content from any web browser using simple tools similar to those in Microsoft Word.

WPM is used to build and publish:

  • Faculty and staff pages
  • Academic department pages
  • Some administrative department pages
  • Student organization pages
  • Student ePortfolios
  • Alumni ePortfolios

Student & Alumni ePortfolios

Students have the option of creating an ePortfolio using the Web Profile Manager tool. ePortfolios allow students to demonstrate learning over time. Students may keep their ePortfolios after graduation by opting-in to the system on an annual basis. The ePortfolio then becomes an Alumni ePortfolio.

Student Personal Websites

Students who want to create a Web site using free-form HTML should use one of the many free or low-cost Web-hosting solutions available through an Internet search.
