Student & Alumni ePortfolios

An ePortfolio, is a collection of evidence of work, proof of skills, and reflections on lessons learned. ePortfolios are often compared to résumés because they represent  achievements and experiences. An ePortfolio provides a richer view of individual progress, learning, and achievement over time.  ePortfolios should include selected evidence of past work from classes or other activities and reflective commentary related to the work and other experiences.

At Ithaca College, ePortfolios are available to all students and faculty members. The Web Profile Manager tool is used to create ePortfolios. Web Profile Manager allows users to easily create web pages, post documents and other files without having to be a web designer. Faculty members have a "demo" ePortfolio to help students create theirs.

Access

Students have access to their ePortfolios, using their Netpass username and password, throughout their academic career and can maintain it after graduation as long as they opt-in to this service on an annual basis.

Alumni ePortfolios

After a student graduates, the student has 90 days until the IC Netpass account expires. The expiration notification will direct students to opt-in to have the ePortfolio become an Alumni eportfolio. To opt-in, students log into Web Profile Manager, set security questions and provide an alternate, non-IC, email address. Students will then be able to use and update their ePortfolio after graduation. Students must opt-in on an annual basis.

If a student decides not to opt-in, once the IC Netpass account expires, access to the ePortfolio will no longer be possible.
