Workshops

All workshops are offered to the entire campus community - faculty, staff, and students - and are free of charge. The location of the workshop is listed with the date and time of each session offered. Please be on time! Due to the hands-on nature of the workshops, persons who arrive over ten minutes late may not be admitted.

ITS reserves the right to cancel a workshop or offer alternative methods of education if there is insufficient enrollment for any session offered. When possible, 24 hour notice will be given should the workshop be cancelled.

NOTE:
Homer Navigation Training is a prerequisite to receiving a production account in HomerAdmin. Please contact the ITS Office at x41000 to set up an individual training session.


Audacity: Audio Podcasting Using Audacity

At its root, an audio podcast is a produced audio file. Audio podcasting is a mechanism by which a listener can choose to subscribe to a topical recorded broadcast and automatically receive new programs via a podcatching application, like iTunes. We will use Audacity to record and edit audio and talk about the necessary equipment, resources and planning necessary for a succesfull audio podcast. We will also consider iTunes U as a publishing platform for audio podcasts and discuss ways to use podcasting in the classroom.

Financial Services Accepting & Depositing Cash/Check Training Session

This session will cover procedures and guidelines established for departments and individuals accepting payments to the College. Individuals with responsibility for accepting cash/checks or depositing cash/checks through Cashiering Services are REQUIRED to attend an annual training session. Parnassus Financials Advanced Session for Current Users

Parnassus Financials Review Session for Current Users

This session is offered by Financial Services staff and will cover a more in-depth review of a designated topic relating to the financial responsibilities in Parnassus.  Topics selected for the session offers attendees an opportunity to review detailed information including any shortcuts.  Attendees may bring in related sample materials with questions or ask questions relating to the specific topic.  This is a great opportunity for a group of end-users within a department to sign up and attend together. Parnassus Financials Session 1: Navigation

This training session is offered by Financial Services staff and will cover accessing and logging into Parnassus, navigating forms, screens, and various Parnassus responsibilities as well as the account structure and subcodes. New users needing to access Finance Applications, EZ Pay, Approving Credit Card Transactions and iProcurement responsibilities are required to attend before being given access to these responsibilities. Session 1 is excellent for users with Account Inquiry Only responsibility.

This training session is offered by Financial Services staff and will cover inquiring on funds available, departmental activity reports and funds available detail reports. Attendance for new users at Session 1 Navigation training is a pre-requisite for this course. New users requesting access to Finance Applications, EZ Pay, Approving Credit Card Transactions and iProcurement responsibilties are required to attend this session before access is granted. This training session is offered by Financial Services staff and covers the EZ Pay process and Approving Credit Card Transactions in Parnassus. Parnassus Financials Session 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this course. New users needing access to Finance Applications and EZ Pay responsibilities are required to attend this session before being given access to these responsibilities. Parnassus Financials Session 4: iProcurement

This session is offered by Financial Services staff and covers completing a Requisition for a Purchase Order process in Parnassus and includes purchasing computer hardware, printers etc. Parnassus Financials Sessions 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this course. Skype at Ithaca College

Skype is an IP-based phone, audio, and video conferencing solution offering one to one interactions, chat and other collaborative features. In this workshop you will learn about the pros and cons of the Skype service, free versus paid services and connection requirements for using Skype at Ithaca College.
