Gladys M. Varona-LaceyProfessorModern Languages and Literatures

Gladys M. Varona-Lacey teaches Spanish and Latin American Literature in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. A native of Cuba, she received her B.A. from Wells College and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures and a Certificate in Latin American Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. She teaches all levels of Spanish language courses as well as Latin American literature, her specialty. Professor Varona-Lacey has authored and edited several books in her field and has taught at M.I.T., Tufts University, Boston University, and Harvard University. She is General Editor of Peter Lang’s Latin American Interdisciplinary Studies series.
Professor Varona-Lacey co-directs with Professor Hormoz Movassaghi the Certificate Program in International Business. She is currently a member of the AP Higher Education Advisory Committee and served the Town of Danby, New York, as an elected board member from 2000 to 2008.
