ebrary on an Intel Mac

Having trouble installing the ebrary reader on your Intel Mac? ebrary is working on a universal application for the plug-in on Intel based Macs, but until that is released you can do this:

  1. Navigate to the "Applications" folder.
  2. Single click on the "Safari" application to select it.
  3. Crtl-click (or right click) on "Safari"
  4. Choose "Duplicate" from the contextual menu.
  5. Single click on the "Safari copy" application to select it.
  6. Crtl-click (or right click) on "Safari copy" to select it
  7. Choose "Get Info" from the contextual menu
  8. Under "Name & Extension", highlight "Safari copy.app" and rename to "Safari-PowerPC.app"
  9. Click the checkbox labeled "Open using Rosetta" to select this option and close the "Get Info" window
  10. Navigate to Applications, and launch the newly created "Safari-PowerPC"
  11. Install the ebrary reader.
  12. If you encounter an error indicating you have insufficient privileges to run the installer, you will need to repair your permissions. Directions can be found here

You could also run a PowerPC version of FireFox.
