There are four openings for the Spring 2010 semester (3 Multimedia Student Assistants, and 1 Interlibrary Loan Student Assistant):

Interlibrary Loan Student Assistant

10 hours per week. $7.25 per hour.
1 position for Spring 2010

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Look up call numbers using the on-line catalog
  • Retrieve materials from the library stacks
  • Make photocopies or scan journal articles and other materials
  • Package books and other materials for shipment to other libraries
  • Open and sort incoming mail
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proficient with a Windows-based desktop computer, and peripheral equipment
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as copier, fax, electric staplers, etc.
  • Ability to lift/push at least 40 lbs
  • Familiarity with library database searching
  • Library experience helpful, but not required.

Work hours:

Student assistants work Monday through Friday between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Multimedia Student Assistant

Average 10 hours per week. $7.25 per hour.
3 positions for Spring 2010

Representative Duties

  • Customer service is the primary responsibility of this position.
  • Circulation of library materials.
  • Answer questions regarding library building and policies.
  • Shelve multimedia materials; maintain collection in correct call number order.
  • Assist patrons in using the audio-visual equipment.
  • Work on various projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to assert library policy.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Available to work various times during the library's hours of operation, including weekends.
