Turabian Citation Examples
For more complete information, consult the 6th edition of Kate Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, especially the examples provided in Chapter 11. Turabian, itself, is a simplified guide to the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition. For items that do not quite fit any one rule, combine rules.
The complete Turabian offers two documentation systems, footnote/bibliography and parenthetical reference/reference list. On this screen, however, you will only find Turabian examples of citations for a bibliography using the footnote/bibliography system (Type "B" in Chapter 11). This was the original Turabian style and is used in the disciplines of history, other humanities, and some social sciences. It is similar to, but not identical with, the Modern Language Associationstyle.
The following examples have not been approved or sanctioned by the University of Chicago. They are non-authorized best guesses.
NOTE: Kate Turabian was a dissertation secretary at the University of Chicago from 1930 to 1958. I suspect she was both much feared and revered. She died in 1987 at age ninety-four, several years before the publication of the sixth edition of the manual that bears her name.

Periodical Articles
Turabian has separate rules for journal articles and magazine articles. If you are not sure which type of periodical it is, follow this suggestion (it is not a Turabian rule): If it has a volume number and a date, follow Example 11.39 B. For journal articles obtained in full text from an online database, such as Expanded Academic Index or ProQuest, follow Examples 11.39 B and 11.57B and Rule 8:141

Newspaper Articles
The 6th edition of Turabian doesn't provide examples of citations to newspaper articles in Chapter 11, but there is a discussion of newspapers in Rules 8.105 to 8.110
Unsigned newspaper article
"Another Campus Drug Raid." Washington Post, 28 April 1991, sec. C, p. 6.
Signed newspaper article.

Non-Periodical Internet Documents
Follow Example 11.57 B and look at Rule 8:141. Since Internet documents are not fixed in either content or location, you need to indicate the date you accessed the page.

Theses, Dissertations, and Special Microform Editions
See Rules 8.130, 8.131, 8.137, and 8.138 and Examples 11.51B and 11.55B. Turabian considers master's theses and doctoral dissertation a type of unpublished materials. The following example is my best guess of the citation for a dissertation obtained in a special microform edition. Normally, it is not necessary to note the form of the source you are using, paper or microform.
Sforzo, Gary Anthony. "Muscle Soreness after Exercise: the Effects
of Early Training with Concentric Contractions." MS thesis,
Purdue University, 1980; Eugene, Oregon: Microform Publications
of the International Institute for Sport and Human Performance,
University of Oregon, 1983. Microfiche.
Government Documents
Turabian provides examples for many different kinds of government documents in Chapter 12. The following is an example of a hearing.
U. S. Congress. House. Committee on Energy and Commerce. Subcommittee on Health
and the Environment. Tobacco Advertising: Hearings before the Subcommittee on
Health and the Environment of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. 100th Cong.,
1st Sess., 27 July 1987.
