The Linden Center is pleased to have close partnerships with the following programs:
Gerontology Institute
The Gerontology Institute has had a long-standing interest in the link between creativity and aging.
In 1996 it sponsored an exhibit of paintings and sculptures titled Seven over Sixty in
the College's Handwerker Gallery. In 2001 the topic of the institute's annual conference was
Aging and Creativity, featuring Gene Cohen as the keynote speaker. About that time the institute
worked with Elder Share the Arts in New York City to establish partnerships with the Tompkins County
arts community. The Linden Center will provide a focal point for this interest and resources that will
lead to an exponential growth in faculty, student, and community activities on this topic
Enduring Masters
The Linden Center for Creativity and Aging is pleased to support the Enduring Masters, a concert
series featuring musicians performing and reflecting on aging and their art. The Enduring Masters is a
joint collaboration with the School of Music and Gerontology Institute and hosts some of today’s
most prominent performers, composers, and educators. Artist who have already participated
include including Billy Taylor (age 86), Karel Husa (age 86), Joan Tower (age 69), and Francois
Rabbath (age 80). Marian McPartland, Joan Tower, Chico Hamilton, William Bolcom, Joan Morris, Dick
Hyman, and Steve Brown and are scheduled to participate in future events. All Enduring Masters concerts
take place at the Ithaca College School of Music.
Roy H. Park School of Communications
The Roy H. Park School of Communication is a nationally recognized program with faculty of committed
scholars and professionals who create award-winning films and videos, conduct innovative research, and
write books that both reflect and influence the ways the world thinks about the media. Dianne
Lynch, Dean of the Park School, has worked closely with Jay Linden to develop a vision for the Linden
Center. Park School students will also be participating in the documenting of Linden Center
events.
Longview
