About Us

As part of the Office of Marketing Communications, the Office of Media Relations works with news media and others to highlight the activities and accomplishments of Ithaca College's faculty, staff, and students. Our primary mission is to provide accurate and relevant information to the media, the campus community, and the general public.

For the Media

If you are a member of the media, you can ask to be placed on our mailing list to receive news releases in your preferred format. We can also assist you in arranging interviews and in finding an appropriate resource on campus to help you with a story.

The media are regularly welcomed to attend and cover events, activities, and other programs on campus that are open to the general public. In order to most effectively serve the interests of both the media and the campus community, we ask that you contact the Office of Media Relations prior to coming to campus to photograph, record, or interview faculty, staff, students, and guests. As a private institution, Ithaca College reserves the right to limit access to its properties and facilities.

For the IC Community

If you are a member of the Ithaca College community, we can assist you with your questions about publicizing your upcoming events, research, honors, and other activities for the news media. We can also help you respond appropriately to inquiries from reporters and requests for interviews. In order to most effectively assist you, we ask that you contact us early -- at least three weeks before a scheduled event -- as timing is critical in the news business. The more notice you provide our office, the better we will be able to help.

Office of Media Relations Staff

Anne Macdonald, Director of Media Relations

Writer/editor reporter, freelancer with more than 20 years in communication and publications in higher education, Anne has worked for private colleges, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and as a reporter for the Orange County Register. She served as co-chair of the Main Media Center at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. She has a BA in English Literature from UCLA and an MFA in writing from Columbia University School of the Arts.

Dave Maley, Associate Director for Campus Communication

Dave has more than two decades of experience in promoting higher education. A graduate of Syracuse University, he spent two years as a reporter/anchor for WTKO Radio in Ithaca, NY, and four years as a reporter/anchor and news director at WENY-TV/Radio in Elmira, NY. He joined Elmira College in 1985 as Manager of News and Sports Information, and since 1987 he has been handling media relations and public information duties for Ithaca College.

Keith Davis, Assistant Director of Media Relations

Employed in the media relations office since 1999, Keith has 23 years of professional communications experience. In addition to working as a reporter and editor for various dailies and weeklies in Ohio, he has seven years of health care public relations experience. He holds a bachelor's degree from Franklin and Marshall College.

Shannon Mazourek, Editorial Assistant

The newest addition to the department, previously worked for Icarus, International Journal of Astronomy at Cornell University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from SUNY Geneseo and a master's degree in Museum Studies from George Washington University.
