ITHACA, NY — The Hillel Foundation for Jewish Campus Life at Ithaca College is sponsoring several events in September intended to provide “Another Vision of Israel.” All of the activities are free and open to the public.

ITHACA, NY — Ithaca College will be a stop on the “Truth about Health Care Road Show,” an effort to educate citizens about the causes of failures in our current health care system. The event’s main speaker will be Donna Smith, who appeared in the Michael Moore documentary “SiCKO.” Free and open to the public, the program will take place on Monday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. in Textor 103.

ITHACA, NY — The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) Forum, in collaboration with Cinemapolis, will present a screening and discussion of Fatih Akin’s “Edge of Heaven” on Friday, Sept. 19. The screening will begin at Cinemapolis, 171 E. State St. in Ithaca, at 7.p.m., with a discussion to follow. Moderator Luke Fenchel, at-large cultural commentator and arts writer, will be joined by Paula Ioanide, assistant professor at Ithaca College’s Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity, and Sabine Haenni, assistant professor of theatre, film and dance at Cornell University. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $8.

ITHACA, NY — Just as platinum is among the most precious of metals, platinum certification is the most valued of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) benchmarks set by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The recently opened home of the Ithaca College School of Business has just become the first facility for a college or university business school in the world to attain that standard.

ITHACA, NY — Ithaca College’s leadership in environmental and sustainability education and operations will get a significant boost with the assistance of a three-year, $500,000 grant from the HSBC in the Community (USA) Inc. Foundation. Awarded to the Environmental Studies Program, the grant will fund a number of noteworthy initiatives. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of HSBC Bank USA, N.A., part of one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations.
