Preparing to walk through "Police and Dog Attack"

First-year MLK scholars Danielle Hiller and Nicole McAdoo take a deep breath before walking through "Police and Dog Attack," a sculpture in Kelly Ingram Park, Birmingham, Alabama. The sculpture depicts police dogs used to intimidate civil rights demonstrators in May 1963.

MLK Scholars give back to the local Ithaca community by participating and remaining active in different organizations around Ithaca.  From Freshman year to Senior year, MLK scholars fulfill their Community Service requirement through a broad range of local outlets, often times finding an organization that relates to their course of study.  The services they provide to the local community are invaluable and the experience that scholars receive is priceless.
