Requirements by Year
First Year
- Participate in a First Year Seminar with a capstone study trip on the Civil Rights Trail
- Participate in a course in the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity
- Reside and participate in H.O.M.E. Program
- Participate in Civil Rights Tour during fall break
Sophomore Year
- Begin developing a learning proposal (independent research project) for future research combining academic, social justice, and social policy topics
- Participate in a weekly seminar
- Participate in international travel during winter break
- Identify a service project to work with
- Begin to participate in leadership building
Junior Year
- Participate in a weekly seminar
- Participate in international travel during winter break
- Begin working on career development
- Continue service learning and leadership development
- Present learning proposal at Annual Whalen Symposium
Senior Year
- Participate in a weekly seminar
- Participate in international travel during winter break
- Present at lecture series for the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity
- Secure graduate study, professional study, and or employment
Scholars are required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3.
All scholars will create and develop a Leadership Portfolio that they will contribute to each semester.
