"I participate with the MLK scholar program because it gives me opportunity to continue Dr. King's work on the elimination of "the giant triplets" (racism, poverty, war) and to travel and work with organizations and activists around the world. But mainly, I participate because the MLK scholars are a cohort of students committed to working for change. Our scholars do good work over their four years and beyond. Having a small role in this journey -- and not necessarily the travel -- makes participation in the program (for students and faculty) a privilege."
