MLK Scholars Program

Scholars

On your first day as an MLK scholar, you'll join a select and prestigious group of students who rank in the top 10 percent of their high school classes, have highly competitive SAT scores, and embody King's ideals in the areas of leadership, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to community service.

More important, you'll join a group of friends -- soon to become your friends -- who share your interests and commitment to social justice and who will look out for you in college and, quite possibly, throughout your life.

Meet some of our recent MLK scholars, and hear about their experiences:

Courtney Clemente

“The MLK Scholars Program has completely changed my worldview,” says Courtney Clemente. “It has affected the way I perceive those around me. I now identify various issues of oppression and discrimination all around me in my day-to-day life.”

Brian Saa

“When I came to Ithaca for the [MLK interview process], I was just amazed by the program, the opportunities that you are granted, and the things that you wouldn’t have at any other college,” says Brian Saa. “The second we left campus, I said ‘this is my choice, I’m going to Ithaca College.’”

Maria Gonzales

“A lot needs to be done to achieve equality in all senses," says Maria Gonzales. "Being an MLK scholar has definitely shaped what I want to do in the future, and the path that I want to lead now.”
