Undergraduate Audition Requirements:
- Performance (B.M.)
- Performance and Music Education (B.M.)
- One complete, multi-movement work from any historical period (concerto, sonata, or suite)
- Two shorter works in contrasting style (may be individual movements from longer works)
- All major and minor scales, in quarter notes, quarter = 120 minimum
- Composition (B.M.) -- audition only required for instrumental emphasis (private lesson) consideration
- Music (B.A.)
- Music Education (B.M.)
- Music in Combination with an Outside Field (B.M.)
- Sound Recording Technology (B.M.)
- Undeclared Music Major
- Minor in Music
- Major scales, one octave
- One multi-movement composition or three works of differing styles
- Sight-reading
Graduate Audition Requirements:
- Performance (M.M.)
Candidates must exhibit the equivalent preparation to that required for the Bachelor of Music in Performance at Ithaca College and give evidence of being equipped to perform successful recitals during the period of study for the degree program.
Prepare the following for a 20-minute audition:
- Elements of technical preparation such as scales and arpeggios.
- One complete sonata, concerto, or suite.
- Two or three additional works representing various periods of standard repertoire (Baroque, Classic, Romantic, or Contemporary). These may be single movements of longer works.
- Excerpts from the standard orchestral repertoire.
- Music Education (M.M., M.S.)
Prepare the following for a 15-minute audition:
- Elements of technical preparation such as scales and arpeggios.
- One complete sonata, concerto, or suite.
- Two or three additional works representing various periods of standard repertoire (Baroque, Classic, Romantic, or Contemporary). These may be single movements of longer works.
