Opportunities for Non-Music Majors
Non-music majors have multiple opportunities to continue their music studies while at Ithaca College.
Campus Ensembles for the non-major
Ithaca is pleased to offer numerous performing experiences for the non-major, including Band, Chorus, Orchestra, African Drum and Dance, and instrumental and vocal jazz bands. In general non-major ensembles rehearse once or twice per week and perform once per semester.

Private Lessons – for credit
Private lessons are offered in most instrument and voice areas. Lessons are offered for credit, require an informal audition, and incur an additional cost (typically about $180-200). Students typically study with graduate assistants. To inquire if lessons are offered in your area, please contact Dianne Zamoiski at firstname.lastname@example.org or (607) 274-3366.
Private Lessons – noncredit
A number of graduate and undergraduate students teach non-music majors on an informal basis. These are arranged directly between students, although faculty members may be able to serve as a resource, if needed.
Students interested in a substantive program of private lesson instruction, theory, aural skills, and music history are encouraged to audition for the music minor. To schedule an audition, please visit the Music Minor Website.
