Mary Hayes North Competition for Senior Piano Majors
At the time of her death, alumna Mary Hayes North '27 established an endowment to provide an award for
an outstanding Senior Piano Major at Ithaca College. Mrs. North created the endowment to express
her deep appreciation to Ithaca College for her instruction and scholarship. As per her bequest,
this will be determined by a recital competition held at the School of Music. The prize is $1000.

The competition is open to Senior Piano Majors at Ithaca College

The competition will take place in the Hockett Family Recital Hall, and will be open to the public

Contestants will play a 30-minute program of literature of their own choice.

Contestants will be allowed one hour of rehearsal time in the hall during the week of the contest.

The results will be announced directly following the conclusion of the competition.

Any senior wishing to take part must submit a letter of intent to participate to the Dean. A
deadline will be posted here once it is set. This must be approved by the studio teacher, who
will counter-sign the letter to indicate approval. The letter must include the program to be
performed at the competition.
