Auditions for Opera Workshop take place during the first class period. Students should sign up for an audition on the opera bulletin board (Whalen 2306) immediately upon return from summer and winter vacation. Opera workshop is open to juniors, seniors and graduate students only. Students should prepare one operatic aria and bring a resume. Students must be available for the entire duration of the class period, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:05-4:55pm.
Auditions for the main-stage opera are held the third week of the fall semester. Students should check the opera bulletin board (Whalen 2306) for audition requirements and sign-up instructions upon return from summer vacation.
Auditions for Musical Theatre Workshop and all Department of Theatre Arts musical productions are held via main-stage auditions, the Sunday before classes start, both semesters. Students must SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION SLOT ON LINE (follow this link). Typical audition requirements are 16 bar cuts of up-tempo and/or ballade musical theatre selections, plus a 60 second monologue. More information as well as the sign-up sheets can be found on the production call-board in Dillingham Center (on ground/garden floor, across from the vending machines, by classrooms 006 and 008). Students must be available for the entire duration of the class period, Fridays from 12-4pm.
