Voice Auditions

Requirements for MM in Performance

Candidates must exhibit the equivalent preparation to that required for the Bachelor of Music in Performance at Ithaca College and give evidence of being equipped to perform successful recitals during the period of study for the degree program.

Performed from Memory:

Five selections representing a variety of musical styles and periods from the art song literature. Songs should have a mixture of English, Italian, French, and German languages. Audition materials may contain no more than two arias.

Requirements for all other Master of Music Degrees

Performed from Memory:

Four selections representing a variety of musical styles and periods from the art song literature. Songs should have a mixture of English, Italian, French, and German languages. Audition materials may contain no more than one aria.

In addition, all vocalists auditioning must submit the following:

1. Professional resume

2. Complete repertoire list

3. Copies of degree recital programs

Vocalists must be accompanied.

Vocalists may bring their own accompanists, or an Ithaca College accompanist can be provided, if requested, for a fee of $40 (non-refundable). If an Ithaca College accompanist is used,

1. You must send a copy of the music, along with a check or money order made payable to Ithaca College School of Music.
   
2. The check and music must arrive at least two weeks prior to the audition.
   
3. Send all material to: Linda Spencer, Graduate Secretary, Ithaca College School of Music, Ithaca, NY 14850.
   
4. You must bring the original music on your audition day, because the copies of the music sent earlier will be destroyed.
   
5. If Linda Spencer does not hear from you, she will assume you are bringing your own accompanist.
   
6. Prerecorded accompaniment is not acceptable.
