Graduate Admission
Music Education

Each applicant for the Master of Music/Master of Science in Music Education must complete and/or submit the following materials:

  1. Application and the application fee.
  2. All pertinent official transcripts from undergraduate school (you must hold at least a provisional certificate to teach, usually earned through an undergraduate degree in music education).
  3. A performance audition on your major instrument or voice.
  4. Two letters of recommendation for entrance; two additional letters of recommendation for a graduate assistantship.
  5. A 500-word essay on a contemporary issue in music education that demonstrates the applicant's ability to craft the English language using and/or citing scholarly sources.

Deadlines

March 1 All applicant materials, including audition, must be complete and submitted.
March 21 All candidates will be notified of acceptance, rejections, or waiting list status
April 15 All candidates who wish to enter the program (for either fall or summer) must accept admission and have paid their deposit
May 16 and continuing Any waiting list candidates to be offered admission will be sent decision letters, with a ten-day period allowed for acceptance and deposit
