Location.

All or most of the conference events will take place in the Education Building, 35 West 4th Street, off the southeast corner of Washington Square Park. New York University is situated in the heart of "the Village" and is served by nearly all the major subway lines. The closest stations are the West 4th Street Station (A, C, E, B, D, F, Q lines), the 8th Street Station (N & R), and Astor Place (#6), although the Christopher Street Station (#1, 9) and stations at Bleecker and Houston Streets (various lines) are also easily walkable. For those with cars, parking in local garages is readily available but expensive. On weekends during the day, parking on the streets near the Education Building is free, usually possible to find, and relatively safe.

Arriving by Air.

Newark and LaGuardia Airports are your best bets. Both have shuttle bus service to transportation centers in Manhattan for $10 a trip; inquire at the Ground Transportation Desks at each airport for detailed information upon arrival. Cab fare from Newark Airport to any place in Manhattan runs $34; cab fare from Laguardia to NYU Washington Square will run around $20 or more, depending on traffic. Do not take local bus and subway service from Laguardia unless you have lots of time on your hands and want adventure.

Arriving by Land.

All major ground transportation centers in Manhattan (bus or train) are easily accessible to New York University via a short subway ride. People driving should be reminded that a car can be a liability in the city; convenient overnight parking is usually available for a price.
