ITHACA, NY — Ithaca College will host the 2009 Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Convention, which will take place in the James J. Whalen Center for Music from Tuesday, June 16, through Sunday, June 21. The convention will kick off Tuesday evening with an 8 p.m. performance in Ford Hall by Argentinean virtuoso Eduardo Isaac. Other events will include master classes, lectures, the Youth Solo Competition and International Concert Artist Competition, and concerts by many of today’s leading classical guitarists. Pablo Cohen, the guitar professor at the Ithaca College School of Music, is the convention host.
Though individual tickets may be available for some events, the GFA recommends buying tickets in advance by visiting the website at www.guitarfoundation.org. A convention pass good for all events is $285 for full registration or $160 for the weekend only. Individual tickets are $20 for the 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. concerts and $30 for the 8 p.m. and 6 p.m. concerts. They can be purchased at the website or at the door.
