Choral Composition Competition Winners Announced
On Saturday, November 14, the six finalist entries in the annual Choral Composition Competition were performed in concert by six different high school choirs. The work selected as the winner of the Robert Campbell ’40, M.S. ’50 Endowed Choral Composition Prize was "Invictus," by Jeffrey Cobb, which was performed by Niagara Wheatfield Senior High Concert Choir (NY), David Curtis, conductor, Robert Hull pianist. Second place was awarded to Stephen Bouma's "Romeo's Soliloquy," which was performed by Westborough High School Concert Choir (MA), Joseph Stillitano, conductor.
Besides the competition, the Ithaca College Choir under Lawrence Doebler's direction premiered Gravity's Dream, commissioned from Ithaca composer Steven Stucky for this event.
