Mozart's La clemenza di tito to be Performed at Ithaca College
The Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts in collaboration with the Ithaca College School of Music presents Mozart's opera La clemenza di tito, a classical opera which deals with totalitarian rule and love.
Show dates: Wednesday February 22nd at 8pm (Preview), Friday February 24th at 8pm (Opening Night), Sunday February 26th at 2pm (Matinee), Tuesday February 28th at 8pm, Thursday March 2nd at 8pm, and Saturday March 4th at 8pm in the Hoerner Theater, Dillingham.
Opera director Dr. Jennifer Williams, has an extensive background in Opera direction and received her Masters in Theater Arts and Ph.D., in Theater History in Criticism from Cornell University. Dr. Williams also earned an artist diploma in Stage Directing from CCM (University of Cincinnati- College Conservatory of Music). She has been praised for her innovative interpretations on classical operas, and that is something that we will experience as audience members during IC's production of La clemenza. She stated "...that it will be set in a ficticious present, with characters from different geographies."
Dr. Williams was attracted to work at Ithaca College and with college students because "she wants to help craft the next generation of actors, and she wants to help foster the future acting curriculum." She also mentioned that students involved in this production are already demonstrating so much professionalism and preparation. They will be exposed to the vigorous schedule and demand of the professional acting world.
