2013 High School Division Faculty
Summer Music Academy faculty consist of current Ithaca College faculty, top music educators from across the country, and renowned guest artists. Additional faculty and guest artists will be announced periodically. Please note that this is a list of faculty from the 2013 season. 2014 faculty will be announced soon.

Jennifer Sengin is the Director at Choirs at East Brunswick High School where she oversees all activities in a successful choral program, including directing the school’s four choirs, serving as Music Director of the musical, and teaching piano and vocal studies. Under her direction, the East Brunswick High School Concert Choir performed with Kenny Rogers at the New Jersey State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Concert Choir also performed at Princeton Chapel on the Princeton University Campus, with support from a grant she successfully obtained from the East Brunswick Education Foundation. Ms. Sengin organized a men’s workshop with over 100 male singers, grades 7-12, at the East Brunswick Performing Arts Center. The workshop and concert featured Ithacappella, the nationally-recognized all-male a cappella vocal ensemble.
Ms. Sengin has conducted choirs in the United States, Canada, Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Currently Ms. Sengin is on the faculty of the Ithaca College Summer Music Academy where she conducts the Academy Chorus and teaches conducting. In February 2013, Ms. Sengin will present a session at the New Jersey Music Educators Association Conference titled, Movement in the Choral Rehearsal for Expressive and Engaging Singing. She is also the current Repertoire and Standards Chair of Ethnic and Multicultural Perspectives for the New Jersey Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Ms. Sengin served as a Rehearsal Conductor and Assistant Manager of the 2012 New Jersey All-State Women’s Chorus.
Ms. Sengin is an alumna of Ithaca College, where she earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting. While at Ithaca, she served as the Graduate Conducting Assistant for the Choir, Women’s Chorale, Chorus, and the All-Campus Choral Ensemble. She studied Choral Conducting with Dr. Janet Galván and voice with Dr. Brad Hougham. In February of 2010, Ms. Sengin assisted with the preparation and performance of the Ithaca College Women’s Chorale at the ACDA Eastern Division Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ms. Sengin also served as the Co-Director of Senior Choir of the Ithaca Children’s Choirs, under the artistic direction of Dr. Janet Galván. In the Summer of 2010, Ms. Sengin served as an Assistant Conductor on the Ithaca Children’s Choir tour to Prague, Vienna, and Salzburg. She was a finalist in the ACDA National Graduate Student Conducting Competition in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in March of 2009. Also in 2009, Ms. Sengin was a guest lecturer for the The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) ACDA Student Chapter.
As an active vocalist, Ms. Sengin performed the soprano solo in Ralph Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem with the Hunterdon Choral Union in Flemington, New Jersey and Antonín Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with Peapack Reformed Church in Gladstone, New Jersey. Ms. Sengin received First Prize in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Finger Lakes Region Competition in the Advanced A Division. She participated in the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium in Spoleto, Italy and as a Choral Scholar at the Berkshire Choral Festival in Sheffield, Massachusetts.
