Wind Ensemble Ireland-Bound
Following tours to Ireland by the choir in 2002, chamber orchestra in 2003, and the women’s chorale in 2005, the wind ensemble under Stephen Peterson’s baton takes its turn this spring. Along with performances in Clonmel, Limerick, Dublin, and Cork, they will visit the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, and Blarney Castle. Collaborating with the School of Music on this tour are the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, Banna Chluain Meala, the Cork School of Music, and the Dublin Concert Band. The tour program is entitled “An American Tapestry” and features music of Copland, Bennett, Grantham, Lauridsen, and Sousa.
