Scott Baker ’06 and James Walker ‘08 worked with biology professor Jason Hamilton on inoculating logs to start up a mushroom farm, an example of a non-timber forest product.  They researched possible options and decided on Shiitake Mushrooms.

There are many possibilities for other research opportunities to further investigate non-timber forest products and the cultivation of sustainable natural resources.

These include:

Bottling spring water

Maple syrup production

Growing ginseng

Growing blueberries
