Priorities & Projects

The ICNL reserves play an important role in protecting rare, diverse, and important ecosystems on South Hill and in the nearby Town of Newfield.  This is done through formal conservation easement agreements with the Town of Ithaca and the Finger Lakes Land Trust, and through informal agreements between the ICNL Committee and the IC Division of Finance and Administration.

Although Ithaca College does not have a land conservation mission, as a large landowner in the Emerald Necklace Region, Ithaca College is a significant player alongside the New York State Parks, the Finger Lakes National Forest, the Finger Lakes Land Trust, and Cornell University in regional land conservation.

Some of the many noteworthy biological attributes of the ICNL reserves are detailed in the Documents section (at left).
