Many classes including Ecology, Field Biology, and Natural Resources Ecology use this preserve as a learning resource.  Around 300 students a year use the Preserve in their classes.

Past studies have included Red and Lead Backed Salamander [Plethodon cinereus] catch, mark and release.  In addition, many Field Biology students use the reserve as a setting to carry out their studies for their independent research.
