Cyndy Scheibe, associate professor of psychology
The Associated Press reported on a recent poll about Americans’ perception of Santa Claus that found belief in Santa crosses religious boundaries. Many non-Christian parents embrace Santa because they see Christmas serving as a secular holiday in the U.S., said developmental psychologist Cyndy Scheibe. “Santa Claus is more than someone who just comes and gives you a present; it’s this whole spirit of giving and magic that you get to be a part of and celebrate,” said Scheibe.
