William Ressler, assistant professor of strategic communication
The recent signing by the New York Yankees of Jewish baseball player Kevin Youkilis led to an article about Jewish baseball players in New York City. Ressler commented on how some players have embraced Judaism as a way to be different. “Sometimes your Jewishness is a way to get recognized professionally as ‘that Jewish guy,’ and sometimes it’s a way to make connections in the minor leagues and fans,” he said. “There’s something about being in New York that magnifies that.”
