Rachael Hartford, Ithaca College student
The student newspaper at Washington State University wrote about efforts by a group of students studying abroad to help improve conditions for children in Egoli, South Africa. Hartford is among those involved. “I really just want people to know how dire the need is in Egoli,” said Hartford. “These people really have very little. The kids run around in the same dirty clothes day after day. They have one water spigot for each large cluster of shacks. People eat very little. Sanitation is poor and literacy is very low.”
