Deborah King, associate professor of exercise and sport sciences
King’s expertise on the science of figure skating was utilized by The Globe and Mail in an article about the physics of quadruple toe loops. King pointed out that it is difficult for skaters to narrow their body as required for the jump, since centrifugal forces require skaters to pull their limbs in at a force 1½ times their body weight.
