Upon the implementation of the new “Good Samaritan” policy at NYU, Washington Square News talked to Nison about his previous efforts getting a similar policy passed at Ithaca College. “The vast majority of overdoses occur in the presence of others, yet 911 is called less than half of the time,” Nison said. “The main reason people either don’t call or delay to call 911 during life-threatening drug and alcohol emergencies is the fear of getting in trouble.”
