WENY TV — “Health Care Industry Thriving, Despite Economy”
John Fracchia, associate director of career services
Amanda Rifel, Ithaca College graduate student
WENY TV was on campus for the Health Careers Job Fair and spoke with John Fracchia and Amanda Rifel about job opportunities for students in the health care field. Though this field has fared well despite the economy, Fracchia emphasized that no job is really recession proof, so, for students, going to career fairs and starting to network early is key. “I think they understand… that even in a down economy, there are jobs. But what it takes to get them is to be engaged in the job search process,” said Fracchia.
Rifel agrees that health care is the way to go. Unlike her friends in other fields who have had a hard time finding jobs, “Each place [I’ve interned at], they're opening up doors and offering me positions,” she said.
