The program will take place Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3–4, in conjunction with the college’s Family Weekend activities.
“The show serves as an educational experience that will get people to think and have fun with hip-hop, all while in a relaxed block-party environment,” said ALS spokesperson Tyrell Lashley ’08. “This event is geared to both people who know nothing about hip-hop and those who feel they understand hip-hop in a new and exciting way.”
The weekend will begin with a performance by Ithaca College’s own Mystic Trick on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Emerson Suites. They will be followed by hip-hop activists and DJs J-Love and Kuttin’ Kandi. M-1 of the politically conscious duo Dead Prez will wind up the night. On Sunday, also in the Emerson Suites, the program will conclude at 8 p.m. with performances from the Parlé Poetry Tour along with CunninLynguists and QN5.
The event is free to current Ithaca College students with ID and to families visiting as part of Family Weekend. Tickets for non-Ithaca College students will be $3 for one show or $5 for entry to both.
