Caribbean Students At Ithaca College Sponsor Panel Discussion


ITHACA, NY — The Caribbean Students Association at Ithaca College will hold a panel discussion on Wednesday, April 8, titled “The Diaspora Divide? Caribbean Blacks vs. American Blacks.” The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. in Klingenstein Lounge, Phillips Hall.

Serving as panelists will be Sean Eversley Bradwell, assistant professor at the Ithaca College Center for Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity; Linda Carty, associate professor of African American Studies at Syracuse University; James Turner, founder of the Africana Studies and Research Center at Cornell University; and Carole Boyce Davies, a professor at the Africana Studies and Research Center.

The panel discussion is part of a weeklong series of activities celebrating Caribbean culture titled “Kaleidoscope: See Caribbean Culture in a Different Light.” Other events will include a Caribbean dinner, movie screening and playing of “Caribbean Jeopardy.”
