2013 Edition of 'Fiske Guide to Colleges' Includes Ithaca
ITHACA, NY — Ithaca College has been included in the “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013” based on its excellence in a broad range of topics of interest to students and their families, including academic quality, price, financial aid, student body, social life, campus setting, housing, food and extracurricular activities.
Compiled by former “New York Times” education editor Edward B. Fiske, the guide provides a selective, subjective and systematic look at more than 300 institutions in the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Profiles include quotes from students surveyed and seek to characterize the personality of each institution.
Fiske notes that Ithaca College’s “focus on undergraduate education and ‘hands-on’ learning…helps prepare students for the rigors of life outside institutional walls… You’ll appreciate the small size and personal attention characteristic of Ithaca College. These qualities help it stand out.”
“Everybody who is part of the Ithaca College community knows that they are part of something special,” the guide quotes one student. “At other schools, you’re a number. At Ithaca, we know your name.”
The “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2013” is available at bookstores and online, as well as via an iPad app on iTunes and a web app at CollegeCountdown.com.
