Facebook Executive to Discuss Social Media Marketing at Ithaca College
ITHACA, NY — Facebook marketing executive Andy Hersam '86 will present “The Global Opportunity of Social Media: Managing Global Marketing in the Rapidly Changing Media Business” at Ithaca College on Thursday, Nov. 29. Free and open to the public, his talk will take place at 7 p.m. in room 111 of the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise.
Over the past two decades, Hersam has reinvented, repositioned and reinvigorated some of the world’s most popular consumer media brands. His particular strength lies in building and leading teams that obsess over the consumer experience, leveraging digital media to deepen bonds among brand loyalists around shared passion point pursuits.
In his current role with the global marketing solutions team, Hersam works with some of Facebook’s largest financial services partners, including JP Morgan Chase and MasterCard.
An avid endurance athlete himself, Hersam had most recently served as executive vice president for The Competitor Group, the world’s largest international media and events company in endurance sports. He published Triathlete and Competitor Magazines, along with their respective websites, and ran sponsorship sales for several competitive endurance sports series.
Hersam had earlier played a major role in helping to ignite the “second running boom” as vice president and publishing director of Runner’s World Media Group. He transformed Runner’s World magazine and its website to broaden their editorial product and make the sport of running appealing to a wider audience of advertisers and readers.
He has also served as executive vice president and chief revenue officer of Westwood One, one of the largest radio networks in the United States, and held senior management positions at Sports Illustrated, Skiing, Yachting and Golf magazines.
A 1986 graduate of the Ithaca College School of Business, Hersam was a team captain and earned All-America status as a member of the men’s swimming team.
